Biography

Mahasweta Ray is a celebrated Indian actress, television personality, and politician, widely recognized for her extensive contributions to Odia cinema and television soap operas. Born to the renowned Indian writer Rajkishore Ray, she comes from a family with deep artistic roots. Her sister is Malavika Ray, and the prominent actress Aparajita Mohanty is her cousin. Ray is married to Sirish Routray, and together they have a son named Rishi Routray. Throughout her illustrious career, her exceptional talent has been recognized with numerous accolades, including a record eight Odisha State Film Awards. Ray began her acting journey as a teenager, making her debut in the Odia film Jhumuka in 1975. Despite having limited exposure to cinema prior to her acting career, she quickly rose to prominence, frequently collaborating with director Sisir Mishra on many of his box office hits. In 1978, she expanded her horizons and made her Bollywood debut in the film Priyatama.
