Biography

Sriram Panda, born around 1954 in the Nabarangpur district of Odisha, is a highly regarded former actor, director, and screenwriter in the Odia film industry. Widely celebrated for his natural acting, gentle dialogue delivery, and disciplined work ethic, he became a defining figure in Ollywood. His dashing on-screen presence earned him comparisons to the legendary Hindi film superstar Rajesh Khanna, cementing his status as one of Odisha's biggest superstars during the 1980s and 1990s. Panda made his acting debut in the successful 1972 film Dharitri. He achieved massive fame with his lead role in the 1975 classic Jajabara, a film that remains highly popular and was eventually re-released in color. Throughout his prolific career, he starred in numerous groundbreaking projects, including Samaya in 1976 (the first Odia technicolor film), Hisab Nikas in 1982 (the first Odia cinemascope film), and Swapna Sagar in 1982 (the first Odia 70mm film).
