Biography
Roman Valeryevich Mikhailov (Russian: Рома́н Вале́рьевич Миха́йлов; born October 2, 1978; Jurmala) is a Russian mathematician, writer, as well as screenwriter, theater director and film director. Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Professor of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2001, he graduated from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics of Moscow State University. In 2003, at the Steklov Mathematical Institute, he defended his PhD thesis on the topic "Filtration of groups, homology and engagement spaces", in 2004 he became an employee of the algebra department of the Institute. In 2010, he defended his doctoral thesis on the topic "Homotopy theory of normal series in groups". He was also an employee of the laboratory "Modern Algebra and Applications" of the Faculty of Mathematics and Mechanics of St. Petersburg State University, the Institute for Advanced Studies, the Institute of Chemical Physics of the University of Latvia. He is the author of more than 60 scientific papers, including a monograph and a series of articles jointly with Inder Bir Singh Passi.
