Biography

Debu Bose was a highly respected Indian actor and former classical dancer, best remembered for his extensive and influential work in the Odia film industry. Born into a Kayastha family in Odisha during the British Raj, his passion for the performing arts began early in his life. While pursuing his college degree in Berhampur, he became an active member of the Ganjam Kala Parishad and frequently participated in various regional dance dramas. Deeply drawn to the art of dance, he went on to receive formal classical training under the tutelage of the legendary Odissi dancer Kelucharan Mohapatra, laying a strong artistic foundation for his future career. Bose's entry into the entertainment industry initially stemmed from his dance background. He started his career as a dancer and assistant choreographer in the 1974 film Mana Akasha, directed by Nitai Palit. He officially made his acting debut in the 1980 film Tapasya and quickly transitioned into one of Ollywood's most prolific and recognizable character actors.
